NAPL Kids Project at Jose Marti STEM Academy

Members of NAPL visited Jose Marti STEM Academy to teach its students about Neuroscience! The students participated in demonstrations on brain anatomy, recording neural data from a cricket, visual and gustatory perception distortion, and eye-tracking. We had a great time learning with the students, and we hope to have another fun outreach event there in the future!
Princeton Plasmaphysics Laboratory's Science on Saturday Lecture

Dr. Kastner gave a lecture at the Science on Saturday event hosted by the Princeton Plasmaphysics Laboratory. The Science on Saturday events are geared towards exposing high school students to the sciences, but science enthusiasts of diverse ages attended. Dr. Kastner gave a lecture on the neuroscience of visual perception with a few demonstrations that engaged the audience.
Kids Project at the 2019 Littlebrook Science Expo

The Kids Project had fun leading short lessons and demonstrations at the annual Littlebrook Science Expo! Students learned about our project, tried some demonstrations using perception distortion goggles, and had fun asking questions about the brain. We can't wait until next year! :)
Communiversity ArtsFest 2019

We had a great time at the annual Communiversity ArtsFest. Families learned about the current projects in our lab, enjoyed demos using perception distortion goggles, and tried a variety of brain mazes. Families also learned about what a great source Frontiers for Young Minds articles can be for children to learn more about science. Thank you to all those that came by our table!
NAPL Kids Project at Princeton Friends School

NAPL Kids Project visited a third grade science class at the Princeton Friends School. After learning about the brain, the children did a fun eye-tracking experiment. They learned about how their eyes move differently while seeing a picture of Harry Potter's face or reading a short paragraph. We had a great time with the class, and we hope to have another fun outreach event there in the future!

Team Kids had an amazing time meeting all those who attended the Young Women's Conference in STEM. The team had a great time showing budding scientists an eye-tracking demonstration and perceptual illusions that boggled their minds! We had a great time meeting you all, and we are looking forward to more activities with the Young Women's Conference in STEM! :)

Team Kids visited Littlebrook’s science lab class to take science beyond the textbooks! The team showed the children an eye tracking demo to give them a first-hand look at some of the tools used in our lab as part of the Kids Project! We had a great time meeting you all, and we are looking forward to more activities with Littlebrook's science lab class! :)
NAPL Kids Project at Communiversity 2018

Team Kids set up a booth in front of Nassau Hall for the annual Princeton Communiversity. Families tried on perception distortion goggles and found that tossing a ball at a target was not as easy as they thought! Through trial and error they learned to correct for the distortion and eventually hit the target. We hope to see you at the next Communiversity!
NAPL Kids Project at Maurice Hawk School Science Fair

Team Kids visited the Maurice Hawk School Science Fair and had a great time telling families about the Kids Project. The team shared some articles from the Frontiers for Young Minds journal about the development of math and reading. We had a great time sharing our presentation and learning from the presentations of the rest of the young inquisitive minds!
